A new revolution
We are hopeful. It is still possible to change direction, still possible to solve the social and ecological crisis – if we come together and create a society that makes it possible for us to live well within the planetary boundaries.
What we need is a new socio-ecological system, a global community based on solidarity, justice, and ecological principles. This means, in our view, a radically free society with: decentralized urban development; high cultural diversity; free access to information; open education and research; regenerative production systems; and, no less important, collaborative networks of neighborhoods, cities, and regions. We are convinced that the transformation to a democratically governed, socially just, and ecologically literate society requires a paradigm shift, a new revolution.
Center for regeneration
From a global perspective, it is obvious that we need more good examples, new movements, and new forms of collaboration – an open planetary culture. At the local level, we need new, regenerative relations to the web of life, to everything from the food we eat to the people who surround us.
I Gottfridsberg is an independent initiative that aims to make the Gottfridsberg district of Linköping, Sweden, a center for regenerative development. As citizens, system changers, and critical researchers, we are interested in the underlying causes of the crisis, its revolutionary potential. We want to make Gottfridsberg a place for learning and sharing, a geographical starting point for collaboration: by encouraging socio-ecological activism; by contributing to the creation of urban spaces for lifelong learning; and by conducting open socio-ecological research.
